Air Purifier Save School Children From Bats

070820-vampire-bats_big

Bats have been terrorising kids for the last 10 years in a high school in Austin, Texas. Reportedly the bats where attacking children and their waste matter was causing a health problem.

The bats became an annoyance when the school opened over 10 years ago. The roof allows for the bats to live there and gives them the ability to breed. The whole of the arts section of the school is said to be infested with the creatures.

Now the school has taken the precaution of moving three classes to another part of the school. Air purifiers have been installed to remove the health problems related to the bat droppings.

It’s hope that some day the bats will choose to leave Atkins High School but until that that day the children will have to just keep their distance.

WalMart Air Purifier Are Useless – 3 Reasons

Your shopping in walmart and you see an air purifier on special for less than $80! Stop! Don’t bother this is a total waste of money and i will tell you why.

walmart

WalMart works by selling cheap products en masse. Stack them high and sell em cheap works well for tinned tomatoes or cheap towels but is useless when it comes to important technology such as air purifiers.

When you check WalMart for an air purifier most of the stock is less than $150. Cheap in the world of purifiers meant that they will not provide a solution to your needs.

Would you buy a central heating boiler for less than $100 or what about an alarm system for your house? Some jobs just require you to spend more so that you can find the right solution.

It would be great if you could clean your the air of your whole house for less than $150 but this concept is just marketing hype to take your money.

Here are 3 of the top reasons for not shopping at Walmart for you air purifier.

1. Be Wary About Sharper Image

sharper-image-closing

Sharper image have been known to create excessive levels of ozone with their range of ionic breeze air purifiers.

Now their range is not deadly but its not great either. A sharper image purifier has limited range (less than 250 square feet) and only uses ionizer technology.

There has also be recent news that Sharper Image might be going bust as they have all ready moved out of Europe.

2. Only Cleans 10% of Your Air

HEPA_Filter_Micron_Chart

Right its true that cheap purifiers do remove some particles from your air. However they can only remove particles that are bigger than 0.3 microns. Often the adverts will shout about 97% removal of particles bigger than 0.3 microns which sounds great until you do some research. Did you know than 90% of air based particles are bigger than 0.3 microns? So your cheap purifier is only cleaning 10% of your air.

3. Great if you got a sealed room

david-blaine-sealed-coffin

Most people opt for a cheaper purifier because they only need it for their bedroom. As most Wal-Mart purifiers state that they can work in rooms less than 250 feet this is seen as the perfect solution.

However the air from the rest of your house will enter your room and your purifier will have to deal with it. Any purifier that can deal not deal with at least 1000 feet is useless.

300a ionic air purifier reviews

We managed to get our hand on a working version of the 300a Ionic air purifier and we where blown away.

300a ionic air purifier

The main things that we loved about this purifier was:

  • Was great at removing the smell of smoke
  • Made our house breathable for a heavy pollen allergy sufferer
  • Looks like a speaker so fits into our decor perfectly
  • Uses ozone which works quietly and without the need to constantly replace filters.
  • Is good value for money as its costs only $179.

We would love if the 300a ionic air purifier could be a bit smaller but that's just a slight problem. If you need a purifier that will be able to easily remove the smell of smoke and also deal with dirt and pollen then the ionic 300a is the perfect solution. I have already decided on buying one of these for my mothers house as it really stinks of tobacco smoke.

11 Air Purifier Gadgets

The team at Air purifier Review site have gone and put together a list of the most ridiculous air purifier gadgets on the market today. I have always thought that these air purifier that you see on the shopping channel 24/7 are totally useless and such a waste of money.

Of all the 11 useless purifiers,  i have to say that the dog purifier has to be at the top of my personal list. This dog purifier even has the ability to spray you doggy in scent so it smells like perfume. My dog would end up biting someone if you ever managed to put this strange machine around its neck.

Check out this strange image of pet purifier gadget:

I actually quite liked the cat litter purifier that they talked about. It will remove the scent of your cat poo and that is always a good thing in my opinion. I know its not a very popular opinion but i really hate the smell of cats as they make me retch! Any gadget that will help to remove this stench is good in my humble opinion. I just wish that more of my cat owning friends would get it. Maybe i might get them one for Christmas!

Check out this cat stench reducing invention!

Air Purifier for your Pet

Air-purifier-for-doggy-and-cat

Wow – finally your dog does not have to suffer from the smell of dirty air. I mean come on! Does your dog really need its air purified? I mean my dog eats its own poo, i doubt any purifier will be able to make that smell any better. I wonder if this will affect dogs sniffing each others bottoms? I know that dogs use smell a lot more than us humans and i worry that this unit from UxSight comes with an air freshener. It will spray a nice scent into fidos face so he won’t have to deal with the smells of the modern world.

This has to be the most ludicrous air purifiers on the market.. but it might make a good humorous gift. I would stick to buying a normal air purifier and save your $20 for a bone for your pet dog.

5 Types of Air Purifiers Reviewed

It's now common to find air purifiers in both the workplace and home. Sufferers of asthma and allergies now use them to make the air easier to breath. Due to the sheer amount of different technologies it can be confusing when you decide to buy one.

air-purifier-rating

We reviewed the most popular air purifier technologies so you can find the purifier that is perfect for your household.

Air purifiers work by removing pollutants from the air inside a building. Here are the 5 most popular air purifier technologies:

1. UVGI - or Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation works by killing germs or bacteria using light wave radiation. UV are not the most efficient as removing bacteria and mold will require excessive amount of UV radiation before they are destroyed.

2. HEPA air purifier technology (High Efficiency Particulate Air) uses filters to trap pollutants with an efficiency of 99% of all 0.3micrometer particles blocked as well as blocking other tiny particles. HEPA air purifiers work best when they are in a room that air is unable to circulate. HEPA filters work best in industrial setting where airtight rooms exist, however this is not the case in the average home.

3. Activated carbon purifier works by using carbon to absorb pollutants at a microscopic level. Efficiency with carbon filters is not perfect as the adsorption rate slows down and eventually stops when the carbon reaches an equilibrium with the surrounding atmosphere. When the carbon reaches equilibrium then pollutants will not be removed and in some cases can be released back in to the air.

4. Ionization purifiers do not use a paper or plastic filter like those seen in HEPA machines. Ionic purifiers use ions to charge the surrounding particles and then use an opposite charge plate to remove these pollutants from the air. The noise from Ionizer air purifiers is a lot less when compared to HEPA purifiers. If you need to remove very small particles then Ionic are the perfect choice but are not so good at removing smells or bacteria.

5. Photo-catalytic Oxidation is a new technology which might be able to provide large levels of purification using very small amounts of energy. The problem with PCO is that they can't be used in homes as they are still not good at removing pollutants created during the purification process.

Once you have read our reviews of the top 5 technologies we hope that you will find it easy to choose which technology is right for you.

Air Purifier Reviews

In order the make the most out of your purchase it’s worth reading an air purifier review site. However reviews can be tricky to use as many people have different reasons for buying a air purifier.

Air-Purifier-Reviews

The following are the main reasons for buying a Purifier:

1. Asthma

Using an air purifier to treat asthma has shown to have many benefits.  Asthma is caused by the irritation of the lungs by particles such as dust mites, pollen and particles from pollution.  Depending on what the cause of the asthma, purifiers can help to remove any particles from the air.

One of the main benefits of an air purifier over other forms of treatment is the user just has to switch it on and forget about it. A asthma sufferer should look at reviews that highlight purifiers that are specially aimed at removing the cause of their illness.

2. Pollen – Hay fever

Like asthma suffers, people with hay fever need to remove pollen from the air. Pollen causes these people to have an allergic reaction. Hay fever sufferers should look out for reviews that highlight the pollen removing properties of a purifier.

Technology review:

Once you know what you need from a air purifier, it’s time to look at what technology is best.  The main purifier technology is HEPA, Ionizing and UV. HEPA works by using a polymer/paper filter to physically stop pollutant particles from passing through. When reading reviews for HEPA purifiers its worth checking how much air they can deal with in an hour. Larger rooms will obviously require a unit with a large air intake whilst a bedroom unit can be smaller. The downside of a HEPA unit is that the filters need changing and can be expensive. Makes sure that you find out how much each filter costs and how often they need changing.

Ionization air purifiers are cheaper in the long run but you still need to compare prices before making any purchase.
